Gabriel and I are so excited to share our Gender Reveal party with you all! When we found out we were having a baby we were over the moon with excitement, and immediately knew that we wanted to find out if it was a boy or girl. We wanted to find out in a fun way along with our friends and family and went to the web to find a way for them to be involved in the reveal as well. We went to Etsy and found and fell in love with the idea of the gender reveal confetti balloons. We immediately ordered 5 black 24 inch balloons which came with 2 boxes; one filled with pink confetti and the other filled with blue. We told our ultrasound tech that we didn’t want to know the sex of the baby, but wanted her to put the results in a sealed envelope…she didn’t trust that we would not peak inside the envelope, but we wanted so badly to find out with everyone else that we waited. We took the balloons to the party store and had them inflate the balloons and fill them with the corresponding confetti color.
We decided to do a mustache and lip theme, and used that to tie into every aspect of the party. Once the day arrived, our guests were asked to pick which sex they thought the baby would be, and wear either a mustache or lip pin. From the decorations, to the straws, to the cookies on the dessert bar, there were mustaches and lips everywhere you looked. We celebrated with a fun mimosa bar, and also had barefoot wine and champagne, and mini food and treats to tie into the “baby” celebration.
We played a few “Old Wives Tale” games, and tallied up the scores. With the exception of 5 people, everyone thought we were having a boy, so much so, we were convinced ourselves. When the time came for the reveal, we called Gabriel’s parents in Spain and and my family Puerto Rico via Skype and got ready to find out the news all together. As they watched via Skype, we handed out the balloons and everyone gathered excitedly around with their glass-head pins in hand. We counted to three and all popped the balloons in unison. As pink confetti filled the air, the room erupted in excitement. Everyone was in complete shock and we all laughed, cried, hugged, and jumped up and down. It was such an amazing surprise and will forever go down as one of the most special moments of our lives. GT and I were overcome with so much emotion and happiness. It is a moment we will never forget and forever cherish. Sharing this moment together with the ones we love was truly beyond words…it truly could not have been more perfect!
