Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the FAQs we often get while on client meetings or via email.
How long have you been doing wedding videography?
I shot my first wedding in July of 2010, just a year after our own wedding. My wife will say that I loved the planning process of our wedding, but I say that she forced me to help her. Either way, I really enjoyed working with all of our vendors and I think their passion for what they do inspired me to start doing wedding videography. Since July I have shot 8 weddings.
What did you do before you started filming wedding videos?
I am a Graphic Designer and I mainly did and still do websites, logos and stationary designs, and invitations. When I lived and worked in Spain, I worked for a company that did a lot of green screen work, and that is when I first learned the “ins and outs” of a video camera and how to edit.
How long have you been living in NYC?
I moved to NYC from Madrid, Spain in April of 2009, right before our wedding. My wife, Caritza, was born and raised in NY.
How did you two meet?
Caritza and I met in November 2005, while she was studying abroad in Madrid. After traveling back, forth, and everywhere else we got married in Puerto Rico in 2009, and are now living and loving life in NYC with our two dogs Tokyo and Lily.
What cameras do you use to shoot?
We mainly shoot with the Canon 7D which is a DSLR camera and the Canon XH A1. Both film in HD.
What other equipment do you use when shooting a wedding?
We use wireless lapels on the groom and/or minister during the ceremony to capture the best sound. We also use a “shot gun” microphone, which is placed on our main camera to capture ambient sound. In addition to that, we also use on camera lights during low light settings.
What is your videography style?
We have an unobtrusive, cinematic, and documentary style to our film. We tell the story of your wedding as we see it.
How long does it take for us to get our wedding video?
We try to get the highlight video to you within 1 to 3 weeks of your wedding so you can get a fun sneak peak of what is to come. The highlight video will be posted on our blog and vimeo page, and you can use that link to share the video with your friends and family. You will receive the final edited video within 1 to 3 months of the wedding.
What exactly comes on the DVD?
Your DVDs will contain a highlights video (3-5 minutes), and a fully edited video (45-1 hour) that includes chapters selection.
Who edits the wedding video?
We both do. I sit at my desk for hours editing the majority of the video, and my wife sits next to me when it is almost done making the final edits.
Who films what during the wedding?
Caritza films the details of the day while I film the general events of the day. Together, our styles make the final video more personal.
And last but not least, I leave you with a photo of me a work taking by Jose Flores while we was shooting his Making of Esposa Moderna Video.
